As the JEE has finally come to an end, many students would be pondering over the decision whether to take a drop or not.
So let's discuss the pros and cons of dropping and whether you should take a drop.
You might be thinking that taking a drop is a waste of an year. While its true in a sense, but if you feel you can score more next year, then surely go for it. It won't make a difference in the long run. Droppers know what all mistakes they committed and can easily make up for it. You even have an advantage of not having boards . If you feel you can improve your performance significantly, then do go. I have seen people achieve a lot in drop yea. Drop only if you feel you didn't study well in 11th/12th and are willing to study now. Or if you messed up the paper real bad, and will ensure you won't do it the next time. If you studied hard enough and still didn't make it, there isn't much point in repeating as you probably won't make a difference in another year. People will call you dropper, get over it and don't listen to them. Prepare well. You aren't wasting time if you are studying well in drop year. Try to get into a coaching class if possible. Partial drop isn't recommended because it is really tough to study for JEE in college. But some people have done it in past.
But the most important point is that ...Take a paper write 10 reasons, Why you were not able to score good in JEE this, then write how can you rectify them? Then question yourself if you are willing to put another year of Hardwork for your success? If the answer is yes, then just go for it.
One more point,do take part in counselling and also make a daily schedule according to the maximum hours of study you can do in a day and try to follow it till the end of the coounselling because many droppers are very enthusiastic in the beginning few days but their enthu goes away in a month see if you can really be motivated till the end.
Once you take the decision of drop don't look back, don't listen to anyone, Just give your best shot.
Remember a drop year is period of 365 days which can turn failure into success or make a failure a bigger failure. The choice is yours.
