BOOKS

There are many posts and blogs about books but only a few actually suggest books most of them just list the many many books and the students are confused. There are several types of students and each needs different set of books. Some start preparation from class 8, some from 9, and majority from class 11. I have written posts about different classes and subjects. The posts are precise and contain about only the useful books. So check them out according to which category you belong. • Books for class 8th   • Books for class 9th   • Books for class 10th   For those who are in class 11th or 12th, check out these. • Books for Physics • Books for Chemistry • Books for Mathematics Many posts on books coming soon  Check out the JEE and Productivity section for more... Comment down if you have any doubts...

KVPY Preparation

You may visit http://www.kvpy.iisc.ernet.in/main/index.htm for more information about pattern and all.

For class 12 students there is no need for extra preparations as most of the syllabus would have been covered by you. Just solve a few past question papers for practice.

For class 11 students, you have to prepare a bit extra. Your class11 concepts must be clear. For mathematics, class 11 maths will do. For chemistry, class 11 is enough. For physics, you should also cover geometrical optics, and Coulomb's law from HC Verma. For biology, class 11 12 ncert is required for a great rank of your aim is getting into IISC but if you don't want to hamper your your JEE preparation much thena good grip over 9th 10th will ensure selection.

For interview, nothing extra is required, just practice your speaking skills and see some past interview questions. Be confident on interview day.

Regarding books, if you have time for practice then you must use some books to practice and get a idea about exam pattern

Some of these books are used by me and some by my friends whose books I have seen and even consulted my friends who got great ranks in kvpy before suggesting.
The links are of the latest edition. So no need to waste your time... searching for them

You can try these past year books to get a better insight about the exam pattern

This can be very helpful, many of my friends used these and got great ranks
